Village Day
The annual get-together with friends and neighbours will take place on Sunday June 9th from midday.
Wildlife barrow competition
If you prefer to plant up your barrow rather than sit in it, why not enter the competition for the best wildlife garden-in-a-barrow. Just plant it with flowers that attract butterflies and bees or seeds for birds and wheel it along. Best one wins a prize. Adults’ and children’s classes.
Live music
Enjoy the exciting sounds of live music, with ballads, country and western and even some sing-along.
Pop-up food and drink
To keep you going on the day there will be the usual great BBQ, this time from Liz and Irwan, and a Loddon bar, as well as Fiona’s yummy teas.
Plant stall to help save the planet
George’s popular plant stall features again, with Sue helping him run it. Please bring any spare plants along to sell on the day. New this year is a Pot Swap – bring your unwanted plastic pots for someone else to take home and use, to help reduce the need to buy new ones that end up in the bin. Thanks, Monty Don for that idea!
For the children
Eirlys will run children’s good-old-fashioned races and there’s table tennis too. Amuse the little ones with Kate’s lovely face painting.
Volunteers please!
Setting up, running and taking down this event takes a lot of effort. Many hands make light work, so if you have an hour to spare on Sunday morning from 9am we’d love to see you. Just turn up on the playground and you’ll get a job.
Fund raising
Proceeds from Village Day help fund other activities in the parish – including the annual carols round the tree and the meetings of the elders’ Monday Club. When we can, we also make donations to local charities or organisations, including Sue Ryder, the Scouts and our local village halls. We are grateful for the support of the Bottle & Glass, Loddon Brewery and Binfield Heath Village Stores and everyone who has supported the raffle.
Noon to 6pm. Entry free. All we need now is sunshine and lots of YOU! See you there!
