Binfield Heath Parish Council

Role of the Parish Council

Binfield Heath Parish was established in 2003, and includes the hamlet of Crowsley. There are six councillors, who meet on the fourth Monday of each month, except for August and December. The annual meeting and AGM take place in May.

Meetings are normally held in the Scout Hut opposite Orwells and start at 7pm. Sometimes the venue has to change, as does the time.

The councillors discuss planning proposals, the recreation ground, open spaces and allotments, the state of the highways ditches and footpaths, traffic problems, waste and litter collections and anything else which is of current concern to residents. The Parish Council listens to people who live in the village and liaises on their behalf with the district and county councils and other organisations.

Parishioners are encouraged to attend and can speak at the public forum. Agendas and minutes are posted on the village noticeboards, outside the shop and in the bus shelter opposite Gravel Road, as well as on this website. The council facilitates an annual parish meeting for residents to talk about subjects of interest or concern, usually in May.

The councillors, who are also trustees of the recreation ground charity, are re-elected every four years. Anyone living within three miles of the parish may stand for election.

There are usually several planning applications in progress at any one time. To view current and past planning applications for Binfield Heath or Crowsley, visit South Oxfordshire District Council. Major planning applications are also posted on this website under Planning. You can make your comments online to SODC or direct to the Parish Council.

Contacting you at home

The Parish Council holds a list of emails of Binfield Heath residents, initially drawn from people who wanted to be kept up to date about the broadband changes. Since then, other people have asked to be added to the list so we can contact them about news and current developments as well as social events in the parish which may be of interest to them.

If you receive these emails but would prefer not to be contacted by the council and wish to unsubscribe from the list at any time please email clerk@binfieldheath.org.uk
