Around 50 people came to hear details of the design proposals for the exterior appearance and interior layout of the Forge at the Scout Hut on Saturday June 15.

It was their first chance to look at the plans which were on display, with members of the Forge Trust there to answer questions.

People in the community had already made imaginative suggestions for using the building, which have been incorporated into the designs. Important influences included preserving the building’s heritage as well as allowing flexible usage in the future.

Trustees Rob Packham, Trevor March and Roger Murray Leach gave a brief introduction and answered questions covering a range of issues from use of the kitchen space, to incorporating the book exchange and managing technical facilities within the workspace. Comment forms from those present were all positive.

The Trust is keen to hear more villagers’ opinions and suggestions, so please don’t hold back! Plans will also be put on the village website and you can make comments or ask more questions via binfieldheathforge@gmail.com – to reach the team by June 30.

The full planning application is expected to reach SODC by the end of August.
